History

I am a coal miner's daughter, a first generation college student, a mother, a wife and a good friend. I live in Richmond, Virginia with my husband and two children. I also share my home with my three dogs, two cats and Jerry, the hamster. My family and my group of friends keep me happy and grounded in my personal life.

Throughout my life, I have often guided friends and acquaintances towards a greater future for themselves. I have been told by people that I inspired them to follow their dreams and pursue their calling. Hearing of people's successes because of my words of encouragement fills my heart. I never understood this, in fact I rarely considered it, until I discovered Servant-Leadership, both the word and the school of leadership.

Development

I began on my journey towards a Masters at Gonzaga in January of 2021. I have been wanting to obtain a graduate degree for many years; however, I was unable to find the right program. When I discovered the Organizational Leadership Program, I knew immediately that it was the direction I was meant to go.

I started as an experienced sales person who dreamed of working in Talent and leading a team again. My lifelong habit of empowering those around me now had a name, Servant-Leadership. My career aspirations were possible now that I understood my strengths and needs professionally. Today, I am a Director of Talent. As a Director, I am building and leading a team of wonderful people who appreciate my servant-leadership style of leading. I utilize course resources and competencies daily and I feel more confident as a leader thanks to the last two years at Gonzaga.
